One of the many news clippings to flood the pop culture media on Wednesday, shortly after the legendary event occurred. As many of you already know Gabe was obliterated, taking the long dive from having a good time to being utterly fucked. Now he resides in the house of PAIN, enjoying many long hours of feeling his bone sticking out of his skin until surgery on Wednesday. The operation shouldn't take more than an hour and will leave Gabe one step closer to becoming a terminator. He will have a permanent metal plate in his shoulder connected to the bone by screws. How fucking cool. I'll be back...
"We watch a settling cloud of dust, revealing as it clears, a mangled mess of boy and bike. The cheering of the crowd dies slowly down, trailing into a murmur of hushed voices. In the distance a flock of seagulls cry, faint sobs creep from the younger children. In the following few moments, each an eternity long, a wave of tension constricted everyone who witnessed the tragic event. Every eye was riveted to the spot, crouched to pounce on any movement hinting of life. And as quickly as the air fogged with fear did it explode into wild rejoice as the triumphant fist rose through the dust in a victory salute. Never before has such an extreme stunt been attempted in the history of humanity. Assuredly this, folks, will go down in history books as the greatest wipe-out of our time. The leaders of tomorrow are the youth of today, my friends it is truly a dark day."

After a 4 months on the lamb Rothgar decided tank life wasn't too bad after all and returned himself to us. There are many theories circulating, spanning regenerative heads to government spy missions to hibernating in the couch. Given the level of dedication he takes to not speak of his hiatus, it is very likely that lives were lost. We're glad to have him home though we wash our hands of the blood he has spilled.
Gwenevere is glad to have company again, she seems to be showing a lot more face time, giving off an air of plump happiness. Operation 'Sea of Kale' will commence soon, I think everyone is looking forward to seeing it out successfully. Gwen's dainty pickings at the established plants, while keeping them alive and healthy, did nothing to prepare the tank for the ravenous destruction accompanying the return of Rothgar. Kroger is now providing rations until new crops arrive.

Taps and Trans
The last of the OG chickens kicked the bucket last week. Sweet Pea, defied all odds and survived this harsh world for 3 full years, battling heat and cold, hunger, transvestites, midgets, angry cocks, fierce dogs, even fiercer coons and smothering amounts of love. Sweet Pea would have made a great sea captain in the 17th century or a general in Napoleon's armies, or something else heroic and great. Anyway its too late now but at least she got a decent burial and taps was blown in her honor outside the Oakleaf cabins this morning. tears were shed. I also picked up some natures miracle in my ongoing battle against anarchy, or is it mutiny, or is it just chaos? catch y'all later.

Birthday Joe
Well I woke up this morning with a cup of Joe and realized I hadn't written anything about my birthday gifts. Rachel gave me this incredibly handsome coffee maker, And yes they really do make the best brew. I have only had the Turkish Ibrik expresso maker which I mostly use for camping so this is a real godsend, I think Rach understands what makes a Fisher-Duke happy (+1 for her). Antonia and Jonathan gave me an accompanying mug with bamboo shoots on it, and even though it maybe the nightmares of some bamboo still makes wonderful art.And what would a gift exchange be without what else, a book, The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy. Thanks A and J! By the way they were all scheming there was a pound of coffee in the bag too! Too clever. Anyway, I am enjoying the coffee getup very frequently. The pot is nice enough looking to leave it on the porch with me so its close when i finish my first cup, really cool gift.
So Foo and Wukong have been great teachers for Ivan, even though he is getting to be more puppy-like as he gets familiar here he is also picking up some things from the boys.
I can tell that raising this little fucker is going to be quite a challenge, he gets loads of energy and its all we can do to keep up giving him things to do so he doesn't get bored. I know he wore rachel out today because shes asleep outside on the couch. They spent the evening together at Rachel's sister Jess's house. Matt knows the ropes as far as training dogs, having raised boxers himself and Rach came home with quite a few good suggestions. Speaking of suggestions, A and J gave us a puppy whisperer book but I fell asleep reading it this morning, give it another shot tomorrow.

How's Ivan sound?
The newest addition to our family is an 8 week old Siberian Husky who is yet to be unnamed. So far he is pretty laid back and curious. He loves his momma and goes running to her whenever one of the other animals scares him.
Current Household Occupancy. Milo & Otis, the toads, newt, Ralf the sidesucker, Foo and Wukong, and puppy.

Woke up early today and tried to whack the yard. after 30 minutes of trying to get the old weed whacker to work realized all the gas tubes had corroded and basically melted into the gas tank. Time to take a trip to Lowes and get some replacement parts. well the parts are right next to all the brand new shiny weed whackers. I had to buy one. But hey the yard looks great.
And while i was at it i took out the pneumatic saw and attacked some bamboo. I'll be able to get more done this weekend, definately need to work out a system but I think the saw will be a big improvement over the band saw. I'm thinking, chop the bamboo down, hit it with the machette, then take the rotary saw to make the poles managable. I'd like to stockpile all the poles underneath the screen porch and let them cure for a few months, maybe we can do something exciting with them. Off to work for now.
